Gil Hodges hit a solo homer in the second. Yogi Berra tied the game with a solo homer in the fourth. Duke Snider's solo homer in the sixth put Brooklyn back on top but Hank Bauer's solo homer tied it in the bottom half. Pee Wee Reese put Brooklyn back on top with a sac fly in the seventh and that would hold up. Brooklyn wins game one 3-2. Newcome (W) and Ford (L) go the distance.

Brooklyn jumped on the New York with three runs in the first and then held on for a 5-2 win. Billy Martin hit solo homer in the second to make it 3-1 but Roy Campanella hit solo homer in the fifth to make it 4-1. Gil McDougald's RBI single in the 8th made it 4-2, but Tom Sturdivant walked Carl Fuillo with the bases loaded in the ninth to make it 5-2. Clem Labine shut the door in the 9th to send the Dodgers home up 2-0.

The road teams continue to win all the games as the Yankees get a much needed win to get back in the series. Bob Cerv hit a solo homer in the third and Gil McDougald hit a solo homer in the 8th to put the Yankees up 2-0. In the ninth Elston Howard plated two more with a triple to make it 4-0. In the last of the ninth Carl Furillo tripled in a run and he scored on a sac fly by Gil Hodges to make it 4-2. That would be the final.

Don Larsen and Carl Erskine engaged in a terrific pitching duel. The Dodgers lone run came in the second inning via a Jim Gilliam sac fly. That would be the only run of the game. Erskine only allowed three hits while striking out six. Larsen only gave up seven hits.

Brooklyn wins series 4-1
Ebbets Field was buzzing as the Dodgers took the field looking to win the championship. The buzz died down when the Yankees scored four runs in the third. Irv Noren singled in a run, Yogi Berra doubled in a run and Joe Collins hit a two run homer off of starter Roger Craig. Bob Grim kept the Dodger off the scoreboard until the fifth. Sandy Amoros tripled in a run and then he scored on Jim Gilliam's ground out to make it 4-2. Grim then got in trouble in the sixth. The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out. Jackie Robinson doubled in two, tying the game at 4-4. Amoros then plated the go ahead run on a ground out. Carl Furillo singled in a run in the seventh and the Dodgers were now up 6-4. In the eighth, Berra tripled in a run with two outs to make it 6-5. Don Bessent came on and walked Joe Collins but the got Eddie Collins to ground out to end the inning. In the ninth, Phil Rizzuto singled with one out. A pop out and then a strike out of Elston Howard ended the game and the series.

Carl Furillo of Brooklyn is the 1955 World Series MVP. Furillo led the Dodgers in hits with six and batted .300, highest among Dodgers that played all five games. His three RBI tied for the team lead. He also had a double and a triple.
