The Dodgers scored three runs in the 7th inning to come from 2-1 down and take game one of the series. Russell's two run single put the Dodgers in front 3-2. He then stole third and scored on Ott's throwing error. Dodger starter Sutton gave up a run in the 9th, but finished the game out. Blyleven went all the way in the loss. Sutton all the way in the win. Lopes had three hits for LA.

The Dodgers won this game in thanks to big seven run 3rd inning. The big hit of the inning was a three run homer by Lopes. Robinson only manages three innings in the loss. Hooton goes all the way for the win. Russell and Ferguson each had three hits.

Ott and Parker each knocked in three runs and four Pirates starters were able to hold off the Dodger attack as Pittsburgh stays alive in the series. Kison, Reuss, Tekulve and Whitson held the Dodgers to just two runs over the final seven innings. Rhoden gets the loss in relief. Reuss gets the win. Russell had four hits for LA and Baker had three hits.

In pressure packed game the Pirates need to stay alive and force a fifth game back in LA, neither team could score through seven innings. It was the Dodger that finally broke through in the 8th. With Tekulve on in relief of Rooker, the Dodgers touched him for three runs. Two runs came on a two run single by Davalillo. Ferguson then later singled him in. The Pirates tried to get up off the matt by scoring twice in their half of the 8th. However, Forster came on in relief of Rau and pitched the last 1.1 innings and ended the Pirates hopes. Rau gets the win, Forster the save. Tekulve the loss. The Dodgers head to the World Series
