1967 Season
1967 - Boston Red Sox World Champions.
This was the first season from the '60s that I've done a replay with. IRL, Boston edged out my Tigers. I was hoping to get Detroit past them. Well, that didn't work out. Detroit got off to a horrible start and Boston led pretty much from start to finish. In the National League. St. Louis did the same. I had a match up of the real '67 series only in my replay Boston defeated St. Louis in five games. Three of the games were extra inning affairs so a break here or there and the Cardinals may have repeated, but for my replay it was all Boston.
The AL MVP was Carl Yastrzemski (.333-44-135). AL Cy Young winner was Dean Chance (22-10, 1.99, 228 K, 23 complete games, 7 shutouts).
The NL MVP was Orlando Cepeda (.364-25-132). NL Cy Young winner was Jim Bunning (27-9, 1.65, 293 K, 8 shutouts).
Here is how the replay compared to real life in some basic categories:
The AL had a .229 AVG (.236 Real), .295 OBP (.303 Real), .344 SLG (.351 Real), .639 OPS (.654 Real), 5732Runs (5992 Real), 1226 HR (1197 Real), 3.09 ERA (3.70 Real), .979 FLD (.979 Real)
