The Dodgers scored two run in the 7th inning mostly due to mistakes by Expos pitcher Steve Rogers, to defeat Montreal 3-2 and take game one of the series. Montreal took a 2-1 lead into the 7th on Ron LeFlore's steal of home in the 3rd inning. Rogers was in control until the 7th. Steve Garvey and Dusty Baker led off with singles. A wild pitch sent them to 2nd and 3rd. Ron Cey then walked to load the bases. Rogers then balked in the tying run and Jay Johnstone's sac fly put the Dodgers in front. Dodgers starter Don Sutton carried that lead into the 9th and Steve Howe finished off the game with a spotless 9th.

The Dodgers jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning and Bob Welch carried a shutout into the 9th inning as the Dodgers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best of five series. Welch gave up a two run homer to Andre Dawson with two out in the 9th, but stayed in and got the complete game victory. Davey Lopes and Steve Garvey each had three hits for the Dodgers.
Game 3 October 10, 1980 @ Olympic Stadium, Montreal

Los Angeles wins series 3-0
Steve Garvey homered and drove in four runs and Dusty Baker had three hits as the Dodgers handled Montreal and swept the three games series to move on to the World Series. Jerry Reuss pitched a complete game for the Dodgers and it was his sac fly that gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. The Dodgers pulled away in the 5th on a two run double by Garvey and RBI single by Baker. They added four in 8th to put the game firmly out of reach.
