AFC Championship - New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

The New England Patriots stunned the hometown Miami Dolphins with 13 points in the last 2:30 of the game to defeat Miami 20-13 and return to the Super Bowl for the second time in the last four seasons.
The Patriots led at halftime 7-6. The only touchdown of the game coming on a Steve Grogan to Derrick Ramsey 4 yd scoring pass. It stayed that way until Miami struck with a big play near the end of the 3rd quarter. Dan Marino connected with Nat Moore for a 64 yd touchdown pass to put Miami in front 13-7. That remained the score until New England got the ball back with less than 5 minuets to play in the game. Grogan moved the Patriots down the field and with just over 2:30 to play he tossed a 28 yd touchdown pass to Cedric Jones to tie the game. Fred Steinfort came on for the extra point to put the Pats on top, but he missed it. The game remains tied 13-13 After a touchback Miami started at their own 20 yd line. On the first play Marino threw for Mark Duper and was intercepted by Roland James. James returned the ball to the Miami 4 yd line. After Miami was called for offsides, Mark Van Eeghen ran in from two yards out to put the Patriots on top. Steinfort hit the extra point to make it 20-13. Miami went four downs with out a first down and New England ran out the clock to finish the game. NFC Championship - Los Angeles Rams at Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins defense held the LA Rams to only 7 points and slugged there way to a 17-7 NFC Championship win. The two teams combined for 7 turnovers in a downpour.
Joe Washington scored two second quarter touchdowns and Washington took a 14-0 lead into the locker room. The Rams finally broke through in the 3rd quarter on a 4 yd pass from Vince Ferragamo to Mark Guman to make the score 14-7. The Redskins responded on their next drive. On first down Joe Theismann connected with Charlie Brown on a 72 yd pass play. Brown was hauled down at the Rams one yard line. The Rams defense stood strong though and stopped Washington on three straight run plays. John Riggins lost a yard, Reggie Evans gained nothing and Riggins gained nothing. Mark Moseley kicked a 19 yd field goal to make it 17-7. The Rams couldn't move the ball at all in the last fifteen minuets and Redskins advanced to Super Bowl 18. New England Patriots v Washington Redskins

Washington makes their way back to the Super Bowl looking to avenge their loss in last year's game to Miami.
The two teams exchanged field goals for a 3-3 game midway through the first quarter. Later in the first quarter John Riggins ran in from 18 yards out and it was 10-3 Washington after the first quarter. Mark Van Eeghen scored on a two yard run in the second quarter to tie the game back up at 10-10. But another Mark Moseley field goal and another touchdown run by Riggins put Washington up 20-10 at halftime. Washington received the second half kick and went right down the field ending in a Joe Washington 3 yd touchdown run to make it 27-10. From that point on the Washington defense took over and controlled the game. Patriots QB Steve Grogan was pulled in the 3rd quarter after throwing his third interception. Tony Collins scored on a long 36 yard run in the 4th quarter to make 27-17. Moseley kicked another field goal with just over three minuets to play to make it 30-17. That would be the final score.
